2026 Clinton County Master Gardener Course

The Clinton County Master Gardeners are looking to add new volunteers! Do you have an interest in gardening, or would you like to learn more about gardening and home horticulture? Applying as a Master Gardener is a great way to learn and make real-world impact right here in our community. In order to become a Master Gardener, there are a few requirements.

 

General Overview to Become a Master Gardener

  • Apply to become a Master Gardener
  • Attend orientation at the OSU Extension Office
  • Complete hybrid coursework as assigned
  • Completion of 50 volunteer hours
  • Willing to be a leader within the organization and the community to positively reflect the values of a Master Gardener Volunteer

 

2026 Training Schedule

Training is conducted on an as-needed basis. Once we have enough interested participants, a training schedule will be announced. We are collecting volunteer interest through March 5th. From there we will decide if we have enough interested participants or if we will need to postpone our 2026 training schedule.

 

Steps to Become a Clinton County Master Gardener

  1. Express Interest

Express your interest in becoming a Clinton County Master Gardener by completing this survey, contacting the Clinton County Extension Office at 937-382-0901, or email baum.247@osu.edu . The survey will be open until March 5th, 2026. You are still welcome to contact us or apply after March 5th, 2026.

 

  1. Review Policy

Read the Policy Statement  as well as the MGV Position Description  to understand program policies and expectations.

 

  1. Apply

Create an account through Hands-on-Connect to apply. Be sure to follow application instructions . Make sure to apply after creating your account or else we will not receive you as an applicant.

 

  1. Interview

Selected applicants will complete an in-person interview to join the Master Gardeners.

 

  1. Orientation

Orientation is a mandatory event for all prospective Master Gardener Volunteers. The orientation will outline the schedule of the course, receive OSU paper, as well as information on completing your background check. Full payment is required to attend orientation. Schedule TBD.

 

  1. Training

Complete all training modules and attend the required number of in-person training events. Schedule TBD.

 

  1. Fulfill the Volunteer Hour Requirements

Complete 50 hours of volunteer service to fulfill the requirement.
