About Family Nutrition Program
- The Family Nutrition Program (FNP) provides nutrition education to persons participating in, or eligible to participate in, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP), formally known as Food Stamps. The main objective of FNP is to improve the likelihood that persons eligible for Food Assistance Benefits will make healthy food choices within a limited budget and choose physically active lifestyles consistent with the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the USDA Food Guidance System (My Pyramid). The Midwest Region of the Food and Nutrition Service funds Ohio State University (OSU) Extension's Family Nutrition Program. FNP is a joint partnership between the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) and OSU Extension. The Family Nutrition Program serves about 70 counties in Ohio. For more information about FNP in Van Wert County, contact: Amy Eickholt, FNP Program Assistant, at 419-238-1214.
