What is the Family Nutrition Program?
The Family Nutrition Program is a nutrition education program with a goal of helping food stamp participants and eligible non-participants acquire knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed behavior necessary for maximizing resources to achieve nutritionally sound diets. The target audiences in the Family Nutrition Program are adult food stamp participants and eligible non-participants. The Ohio State University Extension's Family Nutrition Program (FNP) is funded by Midwest Region Food and Nutrition Service, United states Department of Agriculture. FNP is a joint partnership between the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and OSU Extension.
The Ohio State University Extension Family Nutrition Program in Portage County targets limited resource audiences and food stamp eligible recipients in order to provide valuable education in the areas of nutrition, money management, and food safety.
