File Grain Marketing 2010 An Update
NEWS RELEASE FROM: Les Ober Program Assistant Agriculture & Natural Resources Ohio State University Extension 14269 Clairdon-Troy Road P.O. Box 387 Burton, Ohio 44021-0387 (440)-834-4656 ober.10@osu.edu Grain Marketing 2010 An Update 2009 turned out to be an extraordinary year for grain production. Despite all of the problems the nations grain farmers produced a record corn crop and a near record soybean crop. Also figuring into the mix is a very large South American Soybean Crop. Despite the size of the crop to be marketed, recent prices have remained somewhat stable, but that may not be the case as we move into spring. All of this leads one to believe that marketing grain in 2010 will be more of a challenge than it has been over the past several years. To help answer some of the questions the Western Reserve EERA has invited Dr. Matt Roberts, OSU Extension Grain Marketing Specialist to give a two hour grain marketing update on March 31, 2010. Matt will discuss how to put together a marketing plan and will give an update on the current situation and what may happen in the future. The meeting will be held on Wednesday afternoon March 31st from1:00pm to 3:00 pm at the Geauga County OSU Extension Office in Burton, Ohio. This meeting may provide the information you need if you still have 2009 crop to sell or have not started pricing you 2010. Pre-registration is required by Thursday March 25th. The cost is $10.00 per person payable to OSU Extension. Send payment to Geauga County OSU Extension, PO Box 387, Burton, Ohio 44021. For additional information and to pre-register contact the Geauga County OSU Extension Office at 440-834-4656.
