Hancock County has 340,480 acres of which 77.5% is devoted to agriculture. U.S. data shows 950 farms, with an average farm size of 278 acres. The county ranked 4th in Ohio wheat production and 5th in Ohio soybean production in 2007. There are several active livestock commodity groups, & local agricultural producers and leaders meet monthly via Ag Council. Small woodlands still exist in many parts of the county, providing good habit for wildlife. The Blanchard River and its tributaries make up the county's major watershed.

These generalized reports are based upon research of the Agricultural Environment and Development Economics department at The Ohio State University. The department also has computer calculation programs that allow producers to customize estimates.

Ohio State University Extension cooperates with the Ohio Department of Agriculture in providing educational training programs to aid individuals who desire to be licensed pesticide applicators.
Page Soil Testing Information
Here are the steps for taking a good soil sample. OSU Extension Hancock County and Blanchard Valley Farmers Cooperative currently work with Sure-Tech Laboratories. Samples are mailed to the lab each Wednesday morning.

Page Hancock Ag Hall of Fame
The purpose of the Hancock County Agriculture Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor outstanding contributions to agriculture by Hancock County people. Plan to attend the 2012 Farmer's Share Breakfast on March 15th where 2012 inductees will be announced.
