Baking soda is great for cutting dirt and grease. Mix it with water or vinegar (it will bubble) and it works well to lift dirt from the fabrics. It also acts as a gentle abrasive and mild alkaline cleaning solution. Baking soda also works as a great deodorizer by neutralizing the pH ie., shoes, the refrigerator.

                        1 T  ammonia

                        1 T liquid laundry detergent

Vinegar is great for cleaning hard surfaces, shining metal surfaces, removes mildew, stains, grease and wax buildup. Also works well when trying to clean soap residues from glass shower doors.

A word of caution when mixing your own ingredients. NEVER mix BLEACH with ammonia, vinegar or toilet bowl cleaner. The combination of bleach with any of these products produces a toxic gas which can be extremely hazardous. Read all labels so that you know whether or not any of these ingredients are present in your products.
