The Underground Railroad
in Ohio
Program offered by Susan
Holladay and Rosemary Ehlerding
Presenters offer a
compelling program on the importance of Ohio in the story of the Underground
Railroad and the ingenuity of those who crated, maintained and traveled its
all too often treacherous road to freedom.
Rosemary Ehlerding will
serve as a conductor on the Underground Railroad. She will explain how
ordinary quilts and household items may have been the means for relaying
life-saving messages to escaping slaves along their way to freedom.
Susan Holladay is an Extension
Educator for Family and Consumer Science/Community Development in Clinton
County with Ohio State University Extension.
Rosemary Ehlerding has been
recognized as the 2001 Ohio Homemaker of the Year and is a member of the
Clinton County Quilters Guild and co founder of the highly acclaimed Corn
Festival in Wilmington.
